Are you visiting Newtown this summer? Check out the foodie heaven in our suburb.

If you're on holidays and visiting Sydney over the summer you'll probably want to make a trip to Newtown.  Although it's changed a lot over the years and Enmore Road is no longer 'the gothic mile' you'll still find it's a pretty cool suburb to spend some time in.   Lots of eclectic shops, bars, cafes & restaurants, especially down the south end of King Street & where we are on Enmore Road.

Here's some of the foodie highlights you'll want to check out.

If you're a foodie with a sweet tooth you'll find you can do an ice cream-gelato crawl on Enmore Road.  Cow and the Moon has won the top awards for the world's best gelato and they're just a block up the road from the shop.

A mouthwatering gelato offering from The Cow and the Moon gelato bar, Enmore Road

We're also fortunate to have the new Turkish ice-cream shop, Hakiki half a block away.  If you've never tasted Turkish ice-cream before it's incredible, kind of chewy and made from half goats and half cow milk.

Just make sure you try on corsets with us first before starting your ice cream crawl or you will feel too full to get laced in!

Paleo, vegan and vegetarian foodies are all catered for on Enmore Road.

Bovine & Swine, Enmore Road

Although not strictly Paleo, it is definitely Paleo friendly, a meat lover's paradise & the latest restaurant to open on Enmore Road. Bovine & Swine Barbecue Company is Texas barbecue and run by a rockabilly crew, headed up by Tim from Faster Pussycat (a 40's & 50's rockabilly clothing shop on South King Street, Newtown that you must visit).  The meat is cooked for 14 hours in custom made giant barbecues made by one of the engineer partners in the restaurant.   Minimalist decor, dine in or takeaway available, expect to queue and when they run out for the day or night, they run out.   Two doors down from Gallery Serpentine, here's an article from Time Out magazine about Bovine & Swine.

Vegans and vegetarians must visit Sadhana Kitchen on Enmore Road, Lentil as Anything and Gigi Pizzaria which are both on King Street, Newtown (the south end, just past Newtown Station).

YES! This is vegan high tea at Sadhana, Enmore Road.

Sadhana gets super busy during the day time but it's worth it if you must have top quality vegan food from smoothies, breakfasts, salads to the most delicious cakes.   Read about Sadhana here.

When you're done with your food tour of Newtown and Enmore or before you start make sure to pop in and visit us - anyone interested in alternative fashion whether it's steampunk, goth, alternative street, club wear or fetish clothing will enjoy our shop.   We're open every day in January except Australia Day.  Click for hours.  You can find us beside the Enmore Theatre.
